Ajax closed down the gap to PSV Eindhoven to seven points, after their rivals only managed a draw against Sparta.
“I kind of expected PSV to win the match against Sparta 1-0, so I didn’t even care to ask about their final result. Nevertheless, I’m very happy that they have spilled points,” said Jol after the post-match press conference.
“I realize that the gap is still seven points, so it won’t be easy for us to win the Eredivisie. I hope that Sunday’s results are a bit of a blow for them though.
“We put in a great performance against Vitesse and I’m deligthed with the final result. We created a lot of chances and we could have scored several more goals. However, their goalkeeper made about ten stunning saves and we hit the upright three times.”
