Alderweireld turned down the chance to join Premier League side Norwich City earlier in the summer.
Liverpool and Tottenham have been strongly linked with a bid for the 24-year-old defender.
Ajax have now confirmed they have received an bid for the defender, but have declined to name the club who have made the offer.
“We have received an offer,” Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars told De Telegraaf.
“We won’t give any names as we are still in talks.
“But, just like with Norwich City earlier, I expect we can work out a deal with this club.”
