Zaha is expected to be a target of several Premier League clubs in the summer after impressing for Palace in the Championship.
Ambrose left Ipswich for Newcastle in 2003, when he was only 19-years-old.
“Wilfried is a fantastic prospect,” said Ambrose of the 19-year-old.
“Every day in training he does something special which you don’t see many players do.
“He has a fantastic future ahead of him, but I hope he’s not in the Premier League too soon.
“It happened to me when I left Ipswich for Newcastle and it’s difficult to turn down when top clubs come calling. But it wouldn’t do him any harm to develop his game more at Palace.”
