The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Bologna and his agent, Luca Pagani, admits the player would be interested in a move.
“I recently read a survey on the Bologna website, and the fans seem to want Appiah at their club,” the agent explained to Itasportpress.
“At the moment I don’t have any information to confirm the existence of a real negotiation; however we are really hoping that the rumours in the media are a good omen for this transfer to go through in January.”
Appiah has been out of the domestic game for over a year after leaving Turkish side Fenerbahce at the end of the 2007/08 season.
He added: “I can confirm that Appiah is fine, and that he has resolved his physical ailments. This is a certainty.
“Not only that, but it has been rumoured for some time now that he also has problems with FIFA and other entities, things that are absolutely untrue.”
