The Spanish under-21 international has agreed a four-year contract with Atletico.
Asenjo will cost Atletico a reported €5.5million and the loan of striker Diego Costa to Valladolid for next season.
The 20-year-old will replace Leo Franco and Gregory Coupet who have both left the club this summer.
