The 22-year-old has confirmed Villa are leading the race to sign him this summer.
Villa scout Arthur Numan has been keeping an eye on Dost.
Dost said: “I have heard about the interest from Aston Villa and it is very flattering and nice.
“I have been aware of it for some time and I know that Aston Villa are not having a good season but it still looks a good move.
“I spoke with my agent and we have discussed the matter but there has been no further contact and I have to wait. I cannot say any more but maybe there will be developments.”
