Villa has a £6million bid for Heskey turned down earlier this season but is expected to renew their interest in the January transfer window.
Heskey is currently out with a hamstring injury.
Reports suggest Wigan are prepared to sell their 30-year-old for £4million in January, as his contract expires at the end of the season.
