The 34-year-old, who left Celtic in the summer, has signed a deal that will keep him at the French side until the end of the season.
“I am delighted to return to the French top division after leaving France eight years ago,” the former Toulouse man told Sky Sports.
“Valenciennes have given me a ticket back here, I will bring them my experience and maturity. I will also guide their young players.
“I am happy, all went like planned, all parties are happy, so let’s start picking up some points and be ambitious.”
