The new deal will keep the 26-year-old at Leicester City until the summer of 2014.
“He is an important player for us and he will continue to be important in to the future,” Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson said.
“We believe that his current form this season has shown that he is getting better and better as a player. Sol is very strong and he is popular with everyone.”
