The Algerian along with Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra was singled out for praise from Barca star Xavi Fernandes, for their performance in the African Nations Cup.
Xavi said: “I was surprised by the work of Belhadj and Bougherra. They practice a game that we play under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona. It’s nice as a player to hear praise for your work.”
Belhadj was linked with a move to Portuguese side Benfica in the January transfer window.
