The Spanish side had a £29million bid for Fabregas turned down last Tuesday.
Laporta said: “It’s a price we consider to be his market value.
“Arsenal have rejected it. Now our sporting director must decide what should be the next step.
“We are in negotiations. At times, these operations are resolved at one speed, and others at another.
“We have to do everything to convince Arsenal the best thing for all is to reach an agreement.”
Fabregas has admitted he is keen on a move to Barcelona.
Laporta added: “The club have full confidence Arsenal will end up understanding the situation.”
