The Daily Star says Barca will make a move now rather than waiting until the summer to re-sign the 21-year-old.
Fabregas left the club six years ago and has been a hit in the Premier League.
A Barca club source told the Daily Star last night: “His departure for England has been completely forgotten.
“Pique returned to Barcelona and now we want Fabregas back.
“Barcelona know that he loves the club and they will do whatever they can to use the emotional ties he has with Barca to get him to return.
“It will take a lot of money, but he will be the No.1 priority.”
