The young midfielder joined Bayern from Borussia Moenchengladbach on a free transfer last summer.
But Baumjohann has now completed a move to Schalke 04 for an undisclosed fee after failing to make an impact at Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old has reportedly signed a three-year contract with Schalke 04.
