Becks reckons Fergie can get Owen’s career back on track

Owen joined the Red Devils on a free transfer as his contract with Newcastle United expired at the end of last season.

Beckham is quoted by The People as saying: “I’m so happy for Michael that he’s there at Manchester United. There’s not many other clubs he could have gone to that will give him the confidence and get him scoring goals again.

“Everyone in the England squad wants to see that because he’s a great talent and a great goal scorer.

“To have a manager like Sir Alex looking after him, and with the talent he’s going to be playing with and playing against – to be up against the defenders they’ve got in training week-in, week-out – is going to make him sharper.”

Beckham added: “Sir Alex Ferguson is a great psychologist and I don’t think it’s going to take long because a player of Michael’s talent doesn’t lose it overnight.

“Michael showed in the Community Shield last weekend that he gets in the right places. Once he gets his full sharpness back he’ll score goals.”
