Begovic signs new Stoke deal

Sorensen signed a new deal that will keep him at Stoke until the summer of 2014.

Begovic signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the Potters.

“It’s fantastic news that we have settled the immediate futures of our two main goalkeepers,” Stoke boss Tony Pulis told the club’s official website.

“It’s important to have good competition for places in all areas of the squad and nowhere is it better than there.

“In Asmir, I believe we have the best young goalkeeper in England who has shown his great potential since he came to the club and he certainly has a big part to play in our future as we look to continue the progress we have made.

“As I have stated before, though, it is also important to look after those who have got us where we are today, and Thomas has been a major influence upon what we have achieved.

“He has been an outstanding professional who has thrived upon the challenge now facing him and I am delighted to have secured his experience.”

Pulis added: “When you are looking to build something, you need a solid base and we are fortunate to have two top, top keepers, not forgetting, of course, that there is also Carlo (Nash) as a more than capable deputy waiting in the wings.”
