The new deal will keep the 21-year-old at Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2016.
“Sven is an important player in our future planning,” sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters.
Bender added: “I did everything right by moving to Dortmund. I want to be around when Dortmund fashion their future.”
Bender joined Borussia Dortmund from 1860 Munich in the summer of 2009.
