Benitez told Liverpool’s official website: “You never know. If the players want to say something to me, they will say it on the pitch. When we were thinking about which goalkeeper to use at the start of the season, Jerzy had some problems, so we decided Pepe Reina was the first choice.
“But goalkeepers must be professional, and Jerzy will have a lot of confidence now because he’s playing really well. He’s a very good professional and a very good lad. Now he will get an opportunity and we will see.
“Our idea was always to give Jerzy the Carling Cup and maybe more games. But because of his problems we haven’t been able to do that. It’s a pity but now he has an opportunity and we will see if we can continue to use him.”
