The Bulgarian striker says he moved to Old Trafford in order to win silverware.
Berbatov said: “It’s always better to leave a football club on a good note. But I knew, at my age, I wanted to be playing Champions League football.
“It was right for me to move to Manchester United but I will look back on my time at Spurs with fond memories. I had some great times and will always remember my two seasons with them.
“But it was time to move on and I just hope the Spurs fans can understand that. I had a good time at the club and enjoyed my football. I moved to United because I knew Old Trafford was a place where I could hopefully win lots more medals.”
He added: “I want to be part of a United team that keeps winning all of the biggest prizes.
“I want to win the Premier League and Champions League — and not only once.”
The 27-year-old joined United from Spurs for £30.75million on transfer deadline-day.
