He said: “There’s definitely a comparison to be made with the outstanding players who came the fore at United 10-12 years ago.
“These Arsenal kids are certainly having a big impact. When you get a group of players at a young age that are that good, you just have to let them play.
“That was the reason why I was allowed to leave United. They knew what they had and were aware of the quality that was coming through.
“The group at Arsenal are very similar and they’ve got the same winning mentality.”
