Hughes said: “I thought it was important for Franny to get some games under his belt.
“He’s been a little bit unfortunate this season, in as much as Matt Derbyshire has come to the fore and done exceptionally well for me, so in the next month or so he probably wouldn’t have got a great deal of football.
“He just wants to play. He’s had a couple of years where he hasn’t had a great deal of football, and I think it will benefit him if he gets some games under his belt.
“Then, for the last month or so, he can come back here and be an option for us.”
