Allardyce said: “We got what we deserved. Reading played at their best with the confidence they have gained so far and we were hungover from the Chelsea game.
“We couldn’t live with Reading in the first half because of the amount of effort we put in against Chelsea.
“Their goal was good, but as gallant and brave as we were in the second half, it was far too late for us.”
