The Bolton boss said: “The physical aspect of our game has always been hugely important – but we’ve lost it.
“We’ve gone soft, it’s as simple as that.
“We’ve lost 4-1 at Spurs, 5-1 at Middlesbrough and drawn at home to Manchester City and Charlton without putting them under too much pressure.
“Even when we were new to this division you could always count on us to put up a fight.
“But now we seem to be standing off teams and saying ‘Let’s both play pretty football – you attack us, we’ll attack you and we’ll see how it comes out’.
“Our resilience has been missing and we need to get it back. The only reason we are still fifth is because everyone behind us keeps losing.”
