Edu’s current contract with Schalke is set to expire in June 2013. The forward will spend the rest of the season in Turkey.
Besiktas have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told Reviersport last week: “Edu already travelled to Istanbul before the deal was completed.”
