The new deal will keep the 29-year-old at Brentford until the summer of 2013.
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler told the club’s official website: “I am very happy Richard has signed this new contract.
“We are very strong in the goalkeeper department with Richard and Simon Moore, I am very happy with both of them.
“Richard deserves a new contract after his performances this season and I am looking forward to working with him.
