The 23-year-old has recently been strongly linked with a move away from the Ashton Gate club.
“Brett is going nowhere,” said McInnes. “Personally I like to play 4-4-2 and field two strikers and I’m working towards a point where I can do that.
“Brett knows that and his chance will come. If there is one player who has been unlucky not to make the starting XI, then it is Brett Pitman.
“He has told me he understands the situation and that he is prepared to keep working hard in training and wait for his chance.”
