Buffon said: “Considering that things were not going very well and that the World Cup victory was still fresh in the mind, the coach had unjustly become the scapegoat; with a draw we would have been in trouble and the situation would have been complicated.
“Because of this it was normal that, after the many unfair criticisms he got, we dedicated this win to him.”
