The World Cup winner was signed by the German team last summer but with his contract set to expire this year, the club have decided to part ways with the Italian. He had played just seven times, being sent off once.
The former Juventus star said: “Sometimes things happen which you cannot predict. Unfortunately it did not work out on a sporting level but I felt here very much at home.”
