Valverde replaced Chilean Manuel Pellegrini at the end of last season.
“I notice that the new coach [Valverde] has more confidence in me,” the former Real Zaragoza star told AS.
“That sensation is something I have only recently felt here. Despite the fact that Valverde has spent very little time with me, I notice that he counts on me.”
Cani continued: “Confidence is the key, and if you do not have the confidence of the coach, then things become very difficult. It means that you lose confidence in yourself.
“Now I want to make sure I can continue playing this season in the way that I finished the last, at a high level.”
