In the run up to the England vs Wales Euro 2012 qualifier next month, Capello is meeting with Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand, currently captain and vice captain, and revealed “I’m not sure of my decision yet, I need time.”
When England played Denmark last month the captaincy was changed 3 times; between Lampard, Ashley Cole and Gareth Barry. Capello revealed he was unhappy with the confusion over the role: “People were saying, ‘Who’s the captain?'”
Capello appears ready to forgive Terry, stating while both he and Ferdinand are “good captains”, the former was his first choice. He said he will announce the captaincy for the Wales game the day before the match.
