The England coach was unimpressed with the win, achieved through a goal from Ashley Young in the first half, as they were reliant on Robbie Earnshaw missing an easy chance for Wales.
“We were lucky,” said Capello. “In that moment, we made a big mistake in front of goal and it was luck. We did not play well in the last 15 minutes. We suffered a lot. We didn’t play good passes, never pressed the ball. We played sometimes on the counter-attack but without speed.
“We need to improve. We cannot play for only 20 minutes but for the whole game. We must never lose sight of what we want to do, in every moment of the game. It is important. We need to own the pitch.”
