The 24-year-old, who signed a new contract with Celtic this week, has persistently been overlooked by Scotland.
“I’ve said before I would love to play for Scotland, but it has not happened for me,” said Wilson.
“It’s frustrating because I’ve played for Scotland at every level below and it is something that I had expected.
“From the Under-14s, I’ve captained Scotland at every level right up to the Under-21s. To have such a big void without even being involved in a squad is a bit frustrating.
“But, hopefully, if I play well enough, I’ll get in. It just seems that other guys have one or two good games and automatically get put in. That’s the annoying thing when you are trying to be consistent for a season or so and you’re not even getting selected for a squad.
“I thought if there was going to be a chance for me to be involved in the squad some time, then maybe it would be the Argentina game.
“But it didn’t happen again and I was frustrated – especially when you are playing in the Champions League against the best players in the world and then not getting a call.
“I’m not going to criticise other players, but it is frustrating. I hope I get in some time in the future, though I know I neNiaed to play well for my club.”
