Debunking rumors of a possible sale, Scottish premier league contenders Celtic announced on Wednsday that star forward Shunsuke Nakamura will be returning next season. In a press release published on its website, the club said that Nakamura is “happy to stay at Celtic”.
Robert Takuda, the Japanese international’s representative, reiterated this point, announcing that reports of Nakamura’s imminent departure were “complete nonsense”. According to Takuda, “[Nakamura] and his family are very happy at Celtic and very happy in Glasgow. He has no reason to go anywhere else.”
Rumors emerged earlier this week that Nakamura was planning to exercise a supposed one million pound buyout clause in his contract. Celtic has since denied that such a clause even exists.
