Forrest took Brown’s place in the Celtic side on Saturday, but the Bhoys skipper is full of admiration for the 20-year-old winger.
Brown said: “The gaffer knows what Jamesie can do.
“He’s a great player, probably the most exciting to come through in Scotland since Aiden.
“He gives us pace and goals and he’s adding a lot to his game as he gets older. For a lad his age it’s clear he’s got a great career ahead.
“This will be a big season for him. When I was a young lad coming through I got a great opportunity at Hibs.
“But it’s great for James that he’s able to play right away for a club of Celtic’s size.
“He’s a very laidback lad, down to earth. He’s a nice guy who is very quiet off the park. There’s nothing in his lifestyle that is going to cause him a problem or go to his head, that’s for sure.
“There have been players in the past at the Old Firm who came through and went the other way but Jamesie is different. He enjoys coming into training, enjoys learning and playing football. That’s his focus.
“The gaffer brought him through the development team here. As soon as he became manager he brought him into the first-team squad right away.
“That shows you the confidence he has in him. He knows what he brings to the team. Every day he has something different and he’s great to play alongside.”
