Kenyon said: “We can see that the plan will not come together if we dip into the transfer market to huge levels every year.
“That’s why we’re looking at youth development as a focus, part of the overall plan to get the finances of the business balanced. With the exception of [Michael] Ballack and [Andriy] Shevchenko, the players we’ve brought in have been young, signing for a long period of time.”
