Metro reports that the Blues had an initial £5.3million bid for De Bruyne rejected by the Beligan side.
But Genk are resigned to losing the 19-year-old and are hoping that a deal can see the youngster return on loan at the club for at least another season.
Anderlecht are also reportedly keeping tabs on De Bruyne.
