Lampard has not played since August 25 due to a thigh injur but he hopes to be on the bench for Chelsea for their clash with Bolton on Sunday.
McClaren is desperate to see Lampard return as he has already lost midfielders Michael Carrick, Owen Hargreaves, Jermaine Jenas and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
