The Sun reports that Chelsea had a bid for Godin rejected in the January transfer window.
Atletico rejected a £54million bid from Chelsea for striker Sergio Aguero and Godin in January.
Godin said: “The club didn’t want to sell. Who wouldn’t want to play for Chelsea? It would mean going up a step.”
