The 30 year old Ukrainian striker has disappointed following his £30million move from AC Milan last summer.
Shevchenko said: “I’m happy in London. Give me time and next season you will see the real Shevchenko.
“I have needed some time to acclimatise to England but, given the chance, I can show the supporters the real me.
“I knew it would be difficult to adapt to Chelsea. It’s a new club, a new life and it was a difficult season.
“But I just wish people would give me the time to acclimatise and to get used to it all — then you will see.”
