The Senegalese forward suffered the injury after a hard tackle from Craig Gardner on Sunday against Sunderland.
“When you make a change at half-time, it’s never ‘fine’,” said manager Rafa Benítez. “It’s too early to say how serious it is but it’s a problem with his ankle. We’ll see on Monday. The tackle was a heavy tackle but we don’t know now.”
