The Frenchman is set to complete a £2million move from Spurs to Rovers.
Spurs managed to win 5-1 over Championship side Doncaste in the Carling Cup second round on Wednesday.
“Well I sold one (a player) on the way up here, we sold Chimbonda,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
“Well I think he was sold, he came up on the plane then he travelled across to Blackburn I think.
“The chairman agreed a fee with Blackburn for him so he travelled over there. I don’t know if the deal has been done but certainly it’s very close to being done so we ended up one short but it’s not a problem.”
