The new three-year deal will keep the 31-year-old at the San Siro until the summer of 2015.
“He has just extended the contract with Inter for another three years,” Chivu’s agent Gigi Becali told Radio Mana Mana.
“There are no clauses in the contract about which position Chivu will play, but Stramaccioni and Branca have assured me that he will mostly play at centre-back, except in emergency cases, where he would play at left-back.”
