Chivu’s current contract expires in 2008 and he has failed to agree on a new deal with Roma.
The Romanian defender have requested a deal worth £2.8m a season at Roma, but the Serie A outfit are not willing to offer more than £1.7m.
Inter have a £2.5m a year deal already lined up for the 26-year-old.
