Hughes was unhappy with the way Neville celebrated Michael Owen’s winner.
Neville was on his way down the touchline towards City’s fans to celebrate the goal, but managed to think and instead pretended to warm-up.
“I saw Gary Neville running off like a lunatic,” explained Hughes.
“What I saw reminded me of Sir Alex and Brian Kidd.
“It shows what it meant to them. It shows we can compete.
“We came back three times and showed great quality and character as a team.”
