Rashford now faces three matches out after being sent off for a headbutt on Phil Bardsley.
Clattenburg wrote for the Daily Mail: “Marcus Rashford was sent off for retaliating after a challenge from Burnley defender Phil Bardsley.
“Having already won the ball, Bardsley tried to trip Rashford off the pitch and Bardsley deserved his yellow card.
“But the Manchester United striker responded by throwing his head into Bardsley.
“We saw a similar incident last week when Everton forward Richarlison was sent off for clashing heads with Bournemouth’s Adam Smith.
“It does not matter how soft the contact is. Any headbutt — or attempt to do so — is a red-card offence, so it was the correct call by Jon Moss.”
