The 32-year-old joined Dortmund on a free transfer after his contract with Karlsruhe was cancelled.
Da Silva has signed a one-year contract with Dortmund.
Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp told Kicker: “Toni (Da Silva) impressed us when he was on trial with us in pre-season.
“We have no doubts about his qualities. He will be a useful addition to the midfield set-up of our first-team squad. We are pleased to have him at our club.”
