McLeish quit as Scotland National Coach to take over Birmingham in 2007 and won promotion back to the Premiership in 2009.
“He has a good squad here,” Johnson said in The Sun.
“He got the club back up from the Championship at the first time of asking and everyone can see how well we’ve been performing this season.”
