The new deal will keep the 33-year-old at the club until 2011.
“I said I’d like to stay here for as long as I can,” said a delighted Delap.
“I think we exceeded everybody’s expectations last year, apart from our own, and we’ve got to do it all again next year.”
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes added: “We’re very pleased that Rory has agreed to sign an extension to his contract.
“He was an important player in Tony Pulis’ squad last season and helped us maintain our Premier League status.”
