Jurcic was axed after Dinamo’s 7-1 defeat by Lyon in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
“The board convened straight after the game and we decided to part company with Jurcic because this was an embarrassing end to our interest in Europe this season,” said Dinamo’s executive director Zdravko Mamic.
“We have to find a way to make it up to the fans.
“This is not cheap talk, we had long-term plans with Jurcic and we discussed the future at lunch this afternoon (Wednesday).
“This match was a very difficult moment for our club and was definitely not the way we wanted to end the season in the Champions League.
“The executive board asked for an urgent meeting after the game and unanimously it was decided that the club would cancel the contract with Krunoslav Jurcic.
“I really didn’t imagine before the match that we would end it with a coaching change.”
