The 31-year-old’s current contract with Rennes is set to expire at the end of the season.
Douchez told Staderennais.com: “I took a long time [to decide] but I thought it was the best solution. It was the most difficult decision I have had to take. It’s not obvious to leave a club where you are happy but I felt I needed a new challenge.
“The life of a footballer is full of challenges and I didn’t want to take the easy option. I think if I had stayed here, I could have fallen into that mindset.
“I think I will be on the pitches of Ligue 1, but nothing is sorted out yet. I want to finish well in these last two games with Rennes, then we will see about the future.”
Douchez has recently been linked with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain.
