Goodwillie has recently been linked with the likes of Celtic and Rangers and Thompson admits they are ready to sell for the right fee.
Thompson told the Daily Record: “That will certainly be well in excess of £1million. A number of clubs have contacted me about Goodwillie and they can follow that up with a bid.
“Whether we accept it or not is another matter but I won’t be playing silly buggers because I can’t be bothered with that stuff.
“David’s worth a lot more than the money mentioned so far. He’s only 22 and is the Young Player of the Year.
“I’ve seen the kind of money other players have gone for recently and we’ve got someone here who can go all the way in the game.”
Thompson added: “Every player has his price. If somebody came along and offered Celtic £10m for Scott Brown they’d be tempted to sell their captain.
“We have to reduce the size of our club’s debt but I know what David is worth and I’ll try everything to make sure he doesn’t go for any less than that when the time comes.”
